The Hursley Road Dental Practice was established in 1971 having been converted from an old dairy. It has gradually expanded and updated over the years to now offer seven modern surgeries with a clinical team of five dentists, four hygienists and eight dental nurses with the support of our receptionists, dedicated decontamination nurse and practice administrator.
We are an independent private practice owned by the principal dentists. Our aim is to offer the highest quality of dental care in a relaxed manner to the whole family.

Neil trained at Guys Dental Hospital and has worked in general practice since qualifying in 1993. He achieved the Diploma in general dental practice in 1998 and became a principal in the practice in 2003.
Nick studied at Kings College in Central London and qualified in 1998. After working in Wales and Thatcham he joined the practice in 2003, becoming a principal in 2007. Nick is married with 2 young sons . He enjoys skiing, cycling and long walks with the family.
Melinda qualified as a dentist at the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 2000. She moved to the Fordingbridge area where she worked for 5 years in general practice before joining us at Hursley Road in 2007.
Jane qualified from Edinburgh University in 1981. Following a year in the Dental Hospital there, she moved south and has worked in both the Community Dental Services and General Practice in the Southampton and Chandlers Ford areas. Jane has one daughter and three sons and enjoys skiing and the theatre.
Richard qualified in 1986 from King’s College, London. He is extremely experienced in all areas of General Practice having worked in practices in Thatcham, Wantage and Winchester. Richard has undertaken further training in Invisalign, so is able to offer this as a way of straightening teeth with clear removable braces. He is married with six children. In his spare time he likes to keep fit by swimming and cycling regularly, and is a keen supporter of AFC Bournemouth.

Justine qualified in 1998 from the School of Dental Hygiene at Bristol Dental Hospital. She worked for 5 years in specialist periodontal practice and has since worked in private practice with a particular interest in caring for patients needing more advanced periodontal treatment.
Claire qualified from Guy’s Hospital in 1993 gaining a diploma in dental hygiene. On qualification she received the award for dental health education. Claire joined Hursley Road Dental Practice in July 2010. She has extensive experience in general practice enjoying the challenge of initial treatments and dental health education. Claire enjoys tailor making cleaning routines to suit individual patients knowing that including the patient as part of the team is the key to success.
Amy qualified from the Portsmouth University Dental Academy in 2014 with a BSc in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. Before gaining her hygiene qualifications, Amy started her career as a dental nurse here at the Hursley Road Dental Practice in 2010. After some time she wished to advance within the field by taking her studies further and was then able to return here to work as a hygienist. Amy enjoys educating and treating children as well as easing anxious patients into dental treatment.
Wendy qualified as a Dental Hygienist from The Royal London Dental Hospital in 1991. She has gained experience by working in various settings such as the Community Dental Service, the NHS and more recently in private practice. Her hobbies include sailing, walking and gardening whilst supporting her husband and two teenagers.

Our well trained Dental Nurses are all registered with the General Dental Council and carry out continuing professional education. We follow the latest cross infection guidelines as your safety is paramount.
Our dedicated Decontamination Nurse is responsible for the effective cleaning and sterilisation of our instruments.
